Discovery Space

Our active spaces are designed to strengthen coordination, balance, and muscle development through climbing, jumping, crawling, and dancing. They also encourage curiosity with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities for hands-on learning.

Music & Movement

Included weekly in all classrooms, this program blends music therapy with educational play to support developmental growth through song, instruments, sign language, and movement.

Nature Stations

Nature stations bring the outdoors in, offering hands-on exploration of natural materials and seasonal changes. These spaces spark wonder, observation, and a deep connection to the environment.

As S.E.E.D (Schools Excelling in Emotional Development) certified schools, we are dedicated to nurturing emotional intelligence, connection, and resilience in early childhood. We absolutely love Little Sprouts Melrose! Sam and Rena do a great job here. The communication is always detailed and consistent, the daily activities are so much fun and engaging. Sydney and Isabella from Toddler 3 classroom are really nice teachers. They take such good care of our daughter and our daughter loves both of them. She has adapted so well and loves to go to school everyday. We couldn't be happier with our decision to send our little one to this wonderful school.

Our baby came here since 8 month, very happy to go to daycare. Teachers help baby to be familiar with classroom and friends. They also help monitor the physical and occupational development. Daily activities are carefully designed based on children's stages. Classrooms are clean and sanitized very day. Our baby are happy and healthy. Rarely skip due to illness. Teacher also share photos and daily activities, meals, nap times, and other information with patients every day via an app.

Meet the school leadership team

Executive Director

Rena MacInnis

With Little Sprouts Since 2012

Rena brings over 20 years of experience in education, starting her career teaching at the high school and middle school levels before transitioning to early childhood education. She spent eight years at Little Sprouts Andover, honing her skills and deepening her commitment to early childhood development. In 2020, Rena joined Little Sprouts Melrose, where she oversees the educational growth of both staff and children. Rena holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Salem State University and a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. Her strong educational foundation and extensive experience in teaching and leadership enable her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, watching history documentaries, walking her dog, and visiting family in Canada.

Assistant Director

Sydney Roopenian

15+ Years in the field of ECE

Sydney brings over a decade of teaching experience to her role as Assistant Director. After earning her degree from the University of Arizona, she taught Kindergarten in Tucson before spending 10 years in Los Angeles' charter and private schools. Sydney moved to Massachusetts last August with her husband, inspired to pursue a leadership role to leverage her extensive classroom expertise to support fellow educators and enhance her knowledge of early education. She is passionate about fostering a nurturing and innovative learning environment for both teachers and students.

Regional Operations Manager

Heather Currie

30+ Years in the field of ECE

Heather started her journey in 1995 as a preschool teacher and moved on to a center director. Over the last nine years, she has been in the regional manager role at Little Sprouts. Heather understands and works to support the centers in providing and fostering the highest quality environments for children to thrive. Heather holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Administration and an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Heather has three children, ages 27, 24, and 15, who are all Little Sprouts graduates! In her spare time, she enjoys working out, being outdoors in the warmer months, and spending time with her family.
