FRIENDS Friday – 11/30

In FRIENDS Friday, Watertown by Little Sprouts

Hi FRIENDS,

Happy last day of November! It’s hard to believe 2018 is already winding down to a close. As we begin to reflect on the past year and emphasize the importance of thankfulness and gratitude, I received a timely note from Karen L., a teacher from our Watertown school. Karen has had a very challenging year, which she has faced with a seemingly endless amount of courage and determination. Even so, her selfless nature inspired her to look outward and identify other sources of hope and support that she has received:

Hi Melissa,

I talked with you at the CHILD Conference a few weeks ago. It was very important and fun since it was my 2nd. Just wanted a shout out for Melinda, Janay and the rest of the crew from Watertown. We are family and they supported me when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I was out for a month recovery from a Mastectomy. Came back to work and started 6 weeks of radiation and went straight to work without calling out. They supported me and they still are as I go through multiple doctors’ appointments for the next couple of months.

I am better and a survivor. Couldn’t have done it without the support of my extended family from Watertown!

Sincerely,

Karen

It’s not hard to find the FRIENDS Values at play here; this is FAMILY FIRST, in capital letters. Our Watertown school surrounded Karen with love and support when she needed it the most, helping her fight a very hard and very scary battle. It’s clear Karen exemplified the strength and the will to take on this fight, and emerge as the inspiring survivor that she is. The fact that our team does not hesitate to make sure no one in our Little Sprouts family would have to face such a journey alone has me feeling immensely honored, and grateful, to be part of such a wonderful organization.
