According to FUNdamentals of Music Founder, Aaron Nigel Smith...

"Our goal is to inspire children to express themselves through music and movement – here and throughout the world," says Smith. He continues on to explain that “our programs focus on giving children memorable and enriching experiences with music and movement beyond the scope of the standard music or dance class, while also developing their innate talents and abilities. We offer classes ranging in age from newborn all the way through adulthood. Not only do our clients enjoy the immediate benefit of music and movement enrichment, but they gain valuable skills that will serve them well throughout their entire lives.

Here’s what the experts say about the importance of incorporating music into education:

“By integrating music into the curriculum, it provides the learner one more way to construct knowledge while giving the brain more data from which it will integrate internally."
-Journal of Music Therapy

"Music is a way of knowing. Music intelligence is equal in importance to logical mathematical intelligence, linguistic intelligence, spatial intelligence, bodily/kinesthetic intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and intrapersonal intelligence."
-Harvard Psychologist, Howard Gardner

FUNdamentals classes use a variety of instruments so that children can play along. The class structure also includes a music theory component for preschool and kindergarten classes where children are learning basic music theory concepts such as rhythm, music note names, sounds and placement of notes on the musical staff. In addition, children are encouraged to use their own bodies as musical instruments through hand clapping, marching, snapping, etc.
